Homes, Restaurant & Retail Outlet Plans for Maesteg Factory Site

Wednesday, 13th November 2013

Plans to transform the derelict maesteg-revlon-sitesite of former Maesteg Revlon factory have been revealed. Outline proposals for the Budelpack Cosi site on Ewenny Road Industrial Estate include 125 homes, and a range of restaurants, a pub and several food retail units. Subject to planning consent, it is hoped that infrastructure work will start on site early next year. The plans, which have been drawn up by Pontardawe Coal and Metals Ltd, a subsidiary of Clowes Developments, and Bridgend County Borough Council, also make provision for “non-food” and other employment units. Pontardawe Coal and Metals Ltd and the council jointly own the site.

Councillor Mel Nott, leader of Bridgend County Borough Council, said: “As the industrial estate was closed a few years ago, this redevelopment has been long-awaited in the local community. The proposed redevelopment will see a mix of uses on the site. The plans also include a riverside park and footpath which will provide a missing link to the on-going aim of creating a continuous footpath alongside the River Llynfi. This announcement comes only a few weeks after the opening of the new market square in Maesteg, marking another significant step forward in the regeneration of the town.”
