newport-garden-villageThe Seren Group is looking for contractors to build 400 new homes in Newport, South Wales. The housing specialist is looking to establish a framework of contractors for the design and build work at the Telford Street site. Up to six places are up for grabs on the four-year deal. Earlier this year Seren Group took ownership from the Welsh government of the former Pirelli Cables site in Newport, which has lain derelict for more than 20 years. Approximately 250 new homes are planned for this ‘garden village’ development. Seren wants work to start on site in spring 2014, with the first homes ready from autumn 2014.

Seren said: “The Seren Group are seeking to establish a framework of partner Contractors to deliver several high profile mixed tenure sites providing up to 400 homes. The sites that have been identified will achieve the very best qualities in terms of urban design and community integration with high quality landscaping and innovative approaches to the design of the public realm are also seen as very important elements of the communities the client wishes to create. Contractor’s will be expected to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience of remediation and providing high volume and quality homes with particular emphasis on assisting with sales and flexibility of handovers.”
